Online guide for lenses and treatment used by giarre.com > DriveWear

Drivewear lenses are capable of sensing and reacting to varying light conditions both outside and behind the windshield of the car. Drivewear lenses provide the wearer with the appropriate visual solution for all weather conditions, from bright sunlight accompanied by intense, blinding glare, to overcast bad weather conditions. Drivewear lenses protect the eyes form glare through polarization and enhance and protect vision through photochromics which respond to both visible and UV light.

LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS, OVERCAST
High Contrast Green/Yellow Color. Designed to maximize useful light information reaching the eye. POLARIZED to remove glare that would otherwise DESTROY vision in low light conditions. This color has been thought in order to maximize the total information to the eyes' visual receptors at low lighting/overcast conditions. The high contrast polarizer works in every lighting condition to remove blinding glare and inhance visual acuity.
BEHIND THE WINDSHIELD OF A CAR, BRIGHT LIGHT
Copper Color. Designed to block out exceeding light and to enable the spotting of road signs, pointing out red and green colors. POLARIZED to block out blinding glare and have optimum visual acuity for safe driving. One of the characteristic features of Drivewear is that they are the only photochromatic lenses that darken behind the the windshield of the car. If exposed to sunlight, the Drivewear lenses turn into a copper color which many consider the best color for a driving . This should not surprise, as Drivewear color has been thought to remove exceeding light and to allow the driver to provide good traffic signals recognition.
INTENSE LIGHT CONDITIONS, OUTDOORS
Dark Reddish/Brown Color. Designed to maximise filtration of excess light so that the eye does not get satured. POLARIZED to provide maximum comfort in high light conditions. In outside conditions, Drivewear lenses is activated by visual and UV light and turn into a dark red/brown color. This color has been designed in order to provide maximum filtration of exceeding light and provide the best protection from intense sunlight and blinding gare. Brown lenses allow an excellent spotting of the colors, ponting out especially green colors. As green is the most common color in nature, its emphasising represents an extraordinary visual experienxce.

Overcast - Low light conditions.
In low light conditions, Drivewear lenses provide a high light transmission maximalizing the number of informations reaching visual receptors of both eyes. The result is the best possible visual acuity in these conditions of low lighting conditions. In this state, the molecule allows all visible light to come through the lens. High contrast polarized removes glare, which otherwise would destroy vision in low light conditions. In this state, Drivewear lenses block 100% UV A and UV B light. This is one advantage of being Activated by Transitions(TM). Drivewear lenses turn into high contrast green/yellow color. Obviously, there are no better lenses to face overcast or low light conditions, both outside and inside a vehicle.
Bright light - Behind the windshield.
In bright light conditions behind the windshield of a car, Drivewear lenses provide lower overall transmission to control light intensity for optimum visual acuity. Drivewear lenses promote preferential activation of the eye's red cones (and to a lesser extent, green cones). The result is the best possible vision at these higher light levels. Drivewear's high contrast polarizer is absolutely essential behind the windshield of the car, because it blocks out blinding glare, one of the most dangerous of all driving hazards.Under these conditions, the Drivewear lenses turn a copper color which many feel is the optimum color for a driving lens. This unique behind-the-windshield response protects against bright light and glare and provides better sensitivity to the "visual signal" that is vital for safe driving.
Bright light outdoors - Outside intense light conditions.
In outside bright light conditions, the eyes' visual receptors, the rods and cones, can easily get "overpowered" and "oversaturated" with light. The Drivewear lens is designed for maximum filtration of this excess light. Under these bright outside conditions, it achieves its maximum dark color. Here again, it is important to provide maximum protection from blinding glare, and only polarized lenses can do this. Drivewear is designed to provide maximum comfort to the wearer in these high outdoor light conditions.
