Originally from Willowdale, Ontario, the Canadian twins Dean and Dan Caten have been working in fashion internationally since 1984. They moved to New York in 1983 to attend Parson's School of Design and in 1991 they arrived in Italy, where, in 1994, after numerous collaborations with the most important fashion houses, they created their first men's collection, the first step towards a long series of fashion shows, destined to capture the attention of journalists and buyers thanks to their skilful combination of style, music and entertainment.

The intelligent mix of irreverent Canadian flair and refined Italian tailoring, combined with the obsessive attention to detail, are the basis of today's Dsquared2 philosophy, which has given birth to a unique concept of alternative luxury. Recently, the Dsquared2 sunglasses collections have conquered an ever wider audience and, in line with their natural stylistic maturity, have become increasingly chic and sophisticated, while maintaining that sexy and provocative allure inherent in the brand's creative roots . This evolution is also due to the continuous international influences from which the two stylists draw inspiration. Dean and Dan divide their life and their work between Milan and London, but always create their collections in Italy: "Born in Canada, living in London, made in Italy" is their motto.
